Research Project

This research project is located in the field of studies about creative learning, which is an emerging concept in the fields of education and musical education that focuses on the creative development of children and youth in learning situations. Despite the recognition of the importance of creative practices in musical education, these activities are still usually worked with in a non-systematic manner, whether in the context of basic schools or in other situations. One recurring issue is the need to construct references that articulate the theoretical studies to the educational practices.

The main purpose of this project is to investigate the theoretical-methodological dimensions and articulations in creative-education processes and in creative musical learning, based on the planning and accompaniment of creative-musical projects.

The study also examines the education of teachers (their initial education and in-service training), with the aim of constructing proposals for music education that offer a contextualized reflection on the relationship of students with music and the function of teachers in this process.

This is a qualitative study characterized as participant research, conducted collaboratively with music teachers. The research design calls for three phases of data production. The first involves the planning of creative-musical projects to be realized in the schools where the teachers who participate in the study work. The second phase consists in the accompaniment of these projects, a moment which will be registered with audio and video recordings. The third phase will be conducted collectively by the research team and consists in the evaluation and reflection of creative-musical projects in classrooms.

The results of this work can help develop theoretical foundations and methodological principles for music education that favor creative musical development and strengthen musical education in Brazil.
